The Acne Cure
I know what it is like to endure a slow, painful, and at times, hopeless war with your skin. I have been through this journey ever since I hit puberty. Before I figured it out, I had tried all the topical creams, and took every single acne drug on the market. I took Accutane (isotretinoin) twice. It didn’t work, and instead, it gave me cystic acne for the first time in my life. Thankfully, the cystic acne went away after I discontinued the drug. I took antibiotics for 3 months. I took birth control pills, and I was on spironolactone for 2 years. The only drug that worked for my acne was spironolactone because it mimicked a low carbohydrate diet. However, it caused a massive drop in my male sex hormones and my levels of DHEA were undetectable, so I stopped it for fear of exacerbating my mood dips and causing depression. In this guide, I share what I learned during my 26-year journey with my skin and what I learned about what truly is at the root cause of skin inflammatory conditions. What I've discovered is that drugs do not fix the causes of acne. They simply mask the symptoms of disease that lead to acne. Even worse, drugs have side effects.
